Nestled in the heart of Bukit Merah Central, Mulberry Learning @ Bukit Merah provides a cosy learning environment for infants and preschoolers aged 0 to 6 years. Mulberry Learning @ Bukit Merah lies right at the doorstep of many amenities, and other than offering great convenience, it also provides ample opportunities for our little Mulberrians to interact with the people from the bustling neighborhood, thus allowing them to sharpen their communication skills.
Like other Mulberry centres, Mulberry Learning @ Bukit Merah boasts of open concept learning spaces that are carefully designed for the growth of each child. Being a Reggio Emilia-inspired school, splashes of colors and welcoming materials can be found in every nook and cranny at the centre.
The centre provides a homely and comforting environment for young children to grow and develop in. Handicrafts and artworks that were created in class are proudly displayed on the walls in the brightly-lit centre, and that instills confidence and encourages creativity in our little Picassos.
Our educators at Bukit Merah have planned a variety of outdoor lessons and indoor experiences, which are designed to teach children through creative exploration and engaging experiences, thereby creating vivid memories and vast knowledge in a child’s growing mind.
To date, Mulberry Learning @ Bukit Merah has been striking homeruns in the hearts of many parents, and that would not be possible without the team of highly dedicated and passionate educators, who have been bringing big smiles and laughter to our ever-curious learners.
We took the opportunity and interviewed the centre principal – Ms Gin, aka the “sun” behind the team of warm educators at Bukit Merah – on what makes the centre special.
With your extensive experience in the early education sector, what makes Mulberry special to you?
I feel we are not educating children with just knowledge, but also with positive values and attitude which help them become intelligent thinkers and respectful citizens; and that is what makes Mulberry special to me.
At Mulberry, while preparing the children for primary education, we are also preparing the children for the future. It heartens me to know that because of what we teach today, our young ones are going to grow up to be future leaders in society, as well as socially responsible adults who care for the environment and people around them.
Being one of the first Mulberry centres in Singapore, what do you like best about the Bukit Merah centre?
I love the team spirit and family culture at the centre. I am incredibly proud of having a closely knitted team here with me at Bukit Merah. They are genuine, warm, full of energy, and having them around really helped shape the centre into what it is today – a safe sanctuary for our Mulberrians.
An Award-Winning Curriculum
Mulberry Learning Centre offers an industry-leading unique curricular model for preschoolers. It is different from other Reggio Emilia-inspired preschools because it is the first in Singapore and the world to be certified for “Habits of Mind” – an intelligent thinking framework from the USA designed for young children. So wide is the appeal of “Habits of Mind”, that MOE’s Gifted Education Branch also adopted it to promote intelligent thinking in the top 1% of Primary School students in Singapore! Mulberry therefore ensures that every preschooler can benefit holistically from a trusted curriculum model crafted by educational experts and recognized globally. With its unique curriculum, nurturing educators and ultra-cosy learning spaces, Mulberry Learning has won several awards, including the recent “SG Parents’ Choice 2016/17” awards by Young Parents magazine, as well as the “Best of the Best Preschool Awards 2015”.
