What Is The Habits Of Mind™?

Habits of Mind™ is about knowing how to behave intelligently and respond effectively to uncertainty or dilemmas. It provides children of all ages a framework for autonomous learning, critical thinking and effective inquiry. These habits are introduced to the child by infusing it into the curriculum and delivered through daily lessons and activities.

The Habits of Mind™ framework is incorporated into the Ministry of Education’s Gifted Education Programme.

FACT #2

Being the only preschool in Singapore to infuse the Habits of Mind™ framework into its curriculum, Mulberry Learning is also the first to provide an assessment platform called “The Habits of Mind Assessment Tool (THOMAS)” to measure and analyze the development of these habits in the child. With THOMAS, educators and parents will have access to a report that provides greater insight into the growth of these intelligent habits in the child.

Two Examples of Habits Of Mind™

Questioning & Problem Posing

As one of the 12 specially curated Habits of Mind™ infused into Mulberry Learning’s curriculum, Questioning & Problem Posing involves not just asking questions but seeing the value in asking the right questions.

This habit guides the child on the importance of knowing what information is required to find the answers and developing the most effective strategies to find it.

Persisting

Persisting is one of the 12 specially curated Habits of Mind™ infused into Mulberry Learning’s curriculum.

This habit guides the child on the importance of not giving up when faced with hurdles and obstacles. It also teaches the child to always seek alternative methods or solutions in their problem-solving repertoire.

We believe like you, that while knowledge is temporary in today’s disruptive world, the right habits last a lifetime. Please visit our centre today to discover our award-winning curriculum.

Parent Reviews

  • Ong Yen Peng, parent of Titus Lee (K2), Mulberry Learning @ Alexandra

“Teacher Marie is kind, sincere and approachable. She has helped Titus a lot in various areas. I've also received good feedback from Titus about Teacher Marie and he shared that he will miss her after he finishes K2. This shows that she has built a certain level of trust and relationship with him which I'm very appreciative of. Good job, Teacher Marie! :)”
  • Kaiqi, parent of Hannah Ng (N2), Mulberry Learning @ Cairnhill

“Teachers Logesh and Pinyu Laoshi have invested so much love and sincerity in doing their best. Both my girls come home from school so joyful each day and given they take a long time to warm up to strangers, I felt the teachers did so well in helping the girls adapt when they first enrolled. All teachers are very open to communication and very patient with first-time parents like us. We are thankful that they are outstanding and committed in what they do on a daily basis.”
  • Tan Peiling, parent of Ellie Lin (K1), Mulberry Learning @ Tanjong Pagar

“Teacher Hajar and Ling Di Laoshi of N2A have been really supportive and nurturing of my children. I feel assured that they are enjoying school and quality education when I send them to school daily. Generally, I find the staff and teachers of the Tanjong Pagar centre to be very responsive and nurturing towards the children. Thank you all!”
  • Chew Chen Li, parent of Hannah Pua (K2) and Daniel Pua (N2), Mulberry Learning @ Alexandra

“Xu Lao Shi has been working tirelessly through the year to nurture the students under her care. She is very patient, and knows how to handle the children. She also has a good rapport with the children, and you can tell that she really cares for wants the best for the children. I think her attitude and positivity is highly commendable, and it also rubs off the children, who become interested and start to love the Chinese language.”
  • Bob Lim, parent of Georgia Lim (former student), Mulberry Learning @ Jurong East

"Georgia always looked forward to go to Mulberry Learning @ Jurong East everyday. She has learned a lot and communicated well in English and Mandarin especially during her K1 and K2 years. The school has prepared Georgia well, allowing her to easily transit to Nanyang Primary, where she is currently studying. As a parent, we are appreciative and thank you Mulberry for creating a nice journey from preschool to Primary School for our Georgia!"
  • Pua Khian Hong, parent of Hannah Pua (K2) and Daniel Pua (N2), Mulberry Learning @ Alexandra

“Kudos to the team at Alexandra. One of the main reasons why we stayed on was the teachers who took extra care and were committed to their cause as early educators. Tr Sarwin has taught both our children. Throughout our time at Mulberry, we saw her relentless dedication towards the kids as well as to her duty as an early educator - either through the care directly given or indirectly through her observations and feedback given to us. She is patient with kids yet firm when push comes to shove.”
  • Yomay Lin, parent of Elliot Goh (K1), Mulberry Learning @ Cairnhill

“Ms Carol is a dedicated vice principal who is very loving and caring towards the children and is receptive towards parents’ feedback. Teachers of the branch are generally caring and attentive to children's needs.”
  • Kayo Imanishi, parent of Yuna Imanishi (N2), Mulberry Learning @ Cairnhill

“I really appreciate the warm care that Teacher Logesh and Wang Laoshi has towards my child. They are diligent and detailed oriented. I was always happy to get daily feedback on my child’s achievement at pick up. All the teachers at Cairnhill are very warm hearted. I strongly recommend this school because of them.”
  • Genevieve Lai, parent of Charlotte Wei (N1), Mulberry Learning @ Shenton Way

“Teachers are all commendable, they have gone out of their way to care and nurture, and shown sincerity and love. They have always considered the individuality of the children and have catered to their individual needs while ensuring no child is left out. When I have forgot to inform that Charlotte is not able to attend school, the teachers and staff named proactively reach out to me to ensure that all is well. Charlotte's intelligence, good nature, manners etc. are a wonderful result of the teachers' love. Thank you to all the staff for being so amazing and always going the extra mile."
