What makes working at Mulberry Learning so unique for preschool educators?

What makes working at Mulberry Learning so unique for preschool educators?

There is a wealth of opportunities for professional growth in the early childhood industry, but what makes Mulberry Learning so unique for preschool educators? Hear what Teacher Lee has to say about going to work with her little one and how Mulberry Learning has helped her progress from an English preschool teacher to a Lead teacher in just 5 years!

How did you become a Mulberry Learning teacher?

I first learned about Mulberry Learning and the career opportunities when Mandy (Head of R&D, Mulberry Learning) held a career and recruitment talk at my college. I then applied and secured an English Teacher position 5 years back.

Over these 5 years, the school has been very generous in offering me various opportunities to hone not just my teaching abilities, but also my leadership competencies.

For every new role, came a fresh set of challenges that I grow through and learn from, and I am confident that the various skillsets acquired will serve as stepping stones for my career.

How does a day in Mulberry Learning look like?

I head to school with my son! He attends the playgroup class at my centre – one of the wonderful staff benefits I enjoy at Mulberry Learning! I hand him over to my superb colleagues in the PG class and then start my day of work.

As a Lead teacher, besides teaching my own class of preschoolers, I mentor and guide the new and existing teachers in my centre. Each day, I review and carry out the plans to ensure that our students receive only the highest standards of learning and monitor the teaching approaches across classes.

At times, I also assist my principal in the operational needs of the centre and foster a strong culture of teamwork and professionalism among the staff.

What makes working at Mulberry Learning so fulfilling?

I am thrilled to be able to work on what I love and am passionate about. The students and my colleagues are my strongest motivators at my workplace. Seeing the children learning happily and growing healthily brings me a strong sense of fulfillment, and I look forward to work everyday.

I really enjoy all the growth opportunities I’ve received at Mulberry Learning.

A few years back, I had the privilege of travelling to China, Bao Ding with the curriculum team, which served as an eye-opening experience as I was exposed to various novel and exciting teaching philosophies and approaches. Upon my return, I assessed the feasibility and effectiveness of these teaching styles, and sought to integrate them into my own teaching.

The teacher training programme at Mulberry Learning is comprehensive and extensive, which had enabled me to be up-to-date with the latest updates on teaching methods and curriculum. Mulberry Learning has allowed me to flourish as I progressed from an English preschool teacher to a Senior teacher and now a Lead teacher. I see an upward trajectory for my career, and look forward to becoming a leader in the organisation someday!

Tell us a little bit more about the Mulberry Learning family and the culture at work.

Staff enjoy attractive discounts when their children attend preschool at Mulberry Learning. Even though it can be challenging to have my son in my workplace, I am thankful that the teachers have nurtured him to be an independent boy and that he enjoys going to school!

On top of monetary childcare benefits which have eased the financial burden, I can be assured of my child’s safety and learning as he is in the great hands of my lovely colleagues – Jia Ying Lao Shi and Teacher Jess.

“Moreover, it sends a message that the company is supportive and values the importance of family. This makes me feel appreciated and valued at work.”

Mulberry Learning promotes a healthy work culture that centres around positivity and strong collaboration; despite our teachers coming from vastly different backgrounds, we have learnt over the years to not only embrace the differences, but to learn from one another, enabling us to grow as individuals and as a team.

Last year was a difficult period for my family and I as we grappled with the Covid-19 pandemic, and I will never forget the kindness and strong support that my superiors extended to me.
